345 Walking on Water

“(Jesus) saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night He went out to them, walking on the lake” (Mark 6:48).

Dear Lord Jesus, You know I’ve had a growing belief that Philippians 2:7 means what it says: that You made Yourself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. I’ve come to realise that You did indeed leave Your divine power with the Father and it was by the power of the Holy Spirit within You that You lived and walked on earth. This same power we have and can know increasingly as we deal with the hindrances of unbelief and other baggage that we carry along with us. But could we ever “see” things out of our vision, or walk on water?

Surely you can see this in the testimonies of your brethren that you hear from time to time. Revelations they have received about situations and people which could not be naturally known to them, given to them in order to pray or take some action in My name? Isn’t this My Spirit at work? And did not Philip and others in Scripture disappear and reappear in other places supernaturally in My will and purpose for them (Acts 8:39,40)? You believe those things happened. Why not today?

Even in the kingdom of darkness you hear of supernatural occurrences: levitation, transportation and people walking on coals of fire. Are these counterfeits of the enemy stronger than My power? These things are indeed possible today for My children and always have been. But I hold them in My sovereign hand and ordain them only for My purposes. Any fleshly attempt to replicate them will result in disaster and give victory to the enemy whose purpose it is to deceive you. So keep walking with Me, growing in understanding and leave it to Me to direct your life.
