355 Hearing God’s Voice

“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him” (Mark 11:23).

Verses like this make me feel guilty. It’s the “do not doubt but believe” part that I know is my problem. I don’t have any mountains I want thrown into the sea but there are a lot of other things I would like to see changed.

“What does not come from faith is sin” (Romans 14:23), so it is a serious matter not to believe, but what you must believe is what I say, not what you say. Faith comes from hearing My Word (Romans 10:17). My Son walked this world listening to My voice through the Spirit (John 8:28b), and He obeyed. So these are the keys to having prayer answered.

Do not go to a figtree and expect it to wither at your word (Mark 11:14, 21). I directed Jesus to that tree because the figtree is a symbol for My people Israel and He was to make a prophetic statement about their imminent future. He heard, He believed, He obeyed and it happened. Make sure you heard My voice at all times, believe what I say, obey it and then you will have the power to speak it into existence.

But your biggest problem is not lack of faith, it is lack of obedience, and that is rooted in fear of man. This you must deal with.
