356 The Master of Deceit

“(The owner of the vineyard) sent (his son) last of all, saying, ‘They will respect my son’. But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours’” (Mark 12:6,7).

This story from Jesus just doesn’t make sense, Lord. The tenants of this man’s vineyard had sent his servants to collect his share of the crop and they had killed them. So now he sends his son. But how could they think that to kill the son would give them the inheritance? It just doesn’t work that way.

Of course this parable was to illustrate what the religious leaders of Israel were doing to Me. Not only had they killed My spokesmen, the prophets, in the past, they would now facilitate the death of My beloved Son. But the point of the parable for you is the incredible deception of the evil one to cause these men to carry out his purpose. Can the enemy ever defeat My plans? No! But being a liar, he himself is deceived and he believed that to kill My Son would give him victory over Me and the whole of My creation.

Be aware of this. Especially in these days you will increasingly see mankind being deceived. Because they continue to rebel against Me, they will open themselves up to the great deception to come, when Satan will launch his final assault to set himself up as ruler and god of this world (Revelation chapter 13). You have read the end of the book. You know he will not win. But keep close to Me and My Spirit will reveal to you what is true and what is false.
