358 Standing for Truth

“Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit” (Mark 13:11).

This doesn’t just apply to being arrested, does it? After all these years of walking with You, I’m just starting to learn this principle. It’s all part of actually believing Your Word and obeying it, isn’t it? This is kindergarten stuff in the Christian life really. I feel like an infant seeking to put it into practice now.

That’s exactly what you have to be. The small child is guileless, believing, and as yet uninhibited by its environment and culture. The rationalism of your world has set your mind like concrete, fixed there by fear of losing control. But My Spirit never gives up, and I rejoice to see the cracks in that concrete and the new light of truth that is seeping in.

Oh dear Lord, don’t let me ever go backwards now. Help me walk each day in complete confidence, hearing Your voice and obeying automatically. Trusting You as I get a chance to talk to people, not beating myself up when I think afterwards of better things I could have said. That sort of thing is all about me, isn’t it, and must be offensive to You. Please forgive me for being so fearful and such a slow learner.
