379 Peace in the Storm

“Then (Jesus) got into the boat and His disciples followed Him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping” (Matthew 8:23,24).

How could He remain asleep in such a violent situation? Not only the noise of the storm, but the tossing boat and the water splashing over the sides? Was He as physically exhausted as that?

It is hard for you to understand the relationship My Son had with Me as the man Jesus. Your situation can never be exactly the same. He was completely without sin. The line of communication between Us was always open. He heard My voice clearly at all times, He obeyed without question at all times. He knew that nothing could ever happen to Him that was not My perfect will for Him. Can you imagine what peace that would bring?

It is not so with you. There is the constant influence of sin to interrupt our communication and My work in you. There is baggage you carry, even from your forefathers, which hinders a close relationship with Me. But I know these things. I know you are but dust (Ecclesiastes 3:20) and I am caring for you as truly as I did for Jesus. And the peace in your life will continue to increase as we walk together through life.
