384 Where the Rubber Hits the Road

“Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under His power, and that He had come from God and was returning to God; so …” (John 13:3).

So… You washed the feet of Your disciples, Lord! What an amazing picture of what to do with authority and power! If ever there was an example of Your thoughts not being our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8), surely this is it.

So … I know a lot about my status too. I am Your child (Romans 8:16); I am a new creation (1 Corinthians 5:17); my needs are all met in Jesus (Philippians 4:19); I am strong in You and in the power of Your might (Ephesians 6:10); I am blessed with all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3); I am more than a conqueror through Jesus (Romans 8:37), etc, etc. But this seems to be just head knowledge. It doesn’t work where the rubber hits the road in my life. What is wrong with me?

It is simple really. You are just tired, overwhelmed, trying to do and be all this in your own strength. Take your hands off everything, come and rest in Me each day (Matthew 11:28). Trust Me to live your life today. Don’t try to work out what is the right thing to do. Just live, see the beauty around you, do what you want to do. I will take care of the consequences, I will work everything together to bring victory in your situation. I am well able to do it.

Can I do this, Lord? Will You help me?

That is just what I want to do. I love you so much.
