385 Mind Problems

“Some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, ‘This fellow is blaspheming!’ Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, ‘Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?’” (Matthew 9:3,4).

There is something in me that always seems to see the other side of an issue, and it causes me a lot of trouble as You know, Lord. Take this incident for example when a man was brought to Jesus for healing and He responded by forgiving his sins (v2). I would not judge the teachers of the law as strongly as He did. These men knew the Scriptures, most of it by heart. They knew God alone had the authority to forgive sins (Micah 7:18). It doesn’t seem more than an innocent mistake for them not to recognise Jesus as more than any other man, therefore their comments, while mistaken, are understandable. Why was He so harsh about it?

There are only two spiritual kingdoms in this world, the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light and truth (Colossians 1:13). If anyone has not had the light of truth shone into their hearts by My Spirit they are automatically in the kingdom of darkness, no matter how unintentionally (Psalm 51:5). Their words, their lives promote that kingdom, though they may not appear to be evil. They will flow in the way the enemy can best use them without any sense of it being wrong.

These men knew My Word and may have even loved it. But they approached it with their intellect rather than with a spirit open to learn truth. This is how they missed the greatest ever visitation of heaven to Earth up to this day. This is why I urge My people to eat My words (Jeremiah 15:16), to internalise them, to let them take root and grow into strong faith that will experience and reflect the kingdom of light to the world.
