311 Round Peg in a Round Hole

“We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called in accordance with His purpose; because those whom He knew in advance, He also determined in advance would be conformed to the pattern of His Son” (Romans 8:28,29, CJB).

Romans 8:28 is probably my favourite verse, Lord. It reassures me so often that what I am experiencing will bring about Your purpose for me, something that will bring me deep satisfaction. But I haven’t always realised that the purpose is the make me like Jesus, not just to bless me.

Isn’t it one and the same thing? To be like My Son is the most fulfilling life anyone can experience. That is what you were created for, it is the round hole in which the peg of your life was intended to fit. So it is a comfortable place to be, one in which your gifts work as they should, your needs are supplied. There isn’t a more blessed place to be.

Well, I’m certainly still a work in progress, Lord. Thank you for Your infinite patience with me. As the Potter who moulds the clay with understanding, I feel safe in Your hands (Jeremiah 18:4).
